Sheetmetal Union's JATC: Joint Apprenticeship Training Center

The Southern California Association of Sheetmetal Unions purchased a 70,000 sq. ft. Pillsbury manufacturing facility, located in the City of Industry, for the site of their new apprenticeship school.

The work consisted of a complete renovation and seismic upgrade of the existing building, including:
Removing the large silos that stored sugar and flour Removing abandoned machinery New underground electrical & telephone vaults Strengthening the roof Removing large sections of the damaged concrete floor and replacing with new concrete Replacing the roof All new HVAC units Exhaust system and electrical service for 60 welding stations Building new classrooms, conference rooms and offices Building a new exit and entrance to the building Repaving and striping the parking lot Renovating the lading docks and installed new overhead sectional doors Landscaping the site Installing commercial bathrooms New automatic fire protection system Seismic inertia slabs for new heavy equipment
